How to I know if my website is considered "standard complexity"?
Awesome question!
We find that most small business and personal websites are of standard complexity. These are also known as “brochure” websites.
For example, customized and responsive websites that have text, pictures, graphics, logos, multiple pages and links would be considered standard. Basically anything that doesn’t require special automation, advanced functionality, highly interactive design elements or large scale projects requiring significant coding or time investment.
Our website is considered standard complexity, if that helps. 🙂
An example of a website that would not be considered standard complexity would be an e-commerce website/online store.

What is a domain, how much does it cost and why is it not included?
Another fantastic question!
The domain is your website’s web address or URL (Uniform Resource Locator). For example, our domain is “wisechoicewebdesign.ca”.
The typical cost of a domain is very inexpensive. You would be looking at somewhere between $15 and $25 per year.
We don’t include domain registering as part of our service because we believe that a domain is something you should have full control over and own. It’s the most valuable part of your website and online presence in our opinion. If needed, we will absolutely assist you (at no extra charge) with deciding on a domain name and options on where and how to purchase your domain online.
Once you purchase your domain, all you need to do is add us as an authorized user so we can do our work.

The evaluation of your website will not be based on our opinion. You know that they say about opinions…”everybody’s got one”.
Our evaluation is based purely on factual and transparent data. We use PageSpeed Insights (PSI) reports on the user experience of each page of your website (for both mobile and desktop devices) and provide suggestions on how each page may be improved.
PSI provides both lab and field data about each page. Lab data is useful for debugging issues, as it is collected in a controlled environment. However, it may not capture real-world bottlenecks. Field data is critical for capturing true, real-world user experience.
Your scorecard will outline the key components of your website, score the quality of user experiences for each component out of 100 and group them into three buckets: Good, Needs Improvement, or Poor.
We will summarize your scorecard with what’s working well, what can be improved upon and (most importantly) how it can be improved.
We believe that knowledge is power!
Is this service really free!? What's the catch?
We know it sounds strange. Nothing is free these days, right?
Well, we are currently offering this service absolutely free of charge. There is no catch. There is no obligation whatsoever.
It would be our pleasure to provide you with this level of insight into your current website. Once you have the knowledge on how your website is performing and where potential improvements can be achieved, you have a few options.
Option 1: Do nothing. Just having the information is good enough for you.
Option 2: Take the information you have learned and present it to your current website developer to be addressed. You deserve an amazing website and it should be their job to make that happen.

What locations do you service?
We do everything virtually (online, over the phone or on a video call). So, we are not bound by any geographical restrictions.
We are, however, focusing our services to small businesses and entrepreneurs located in the Durham Region at this time.
If you are located in Ontario, but outside of the Durham Region, reach out to us and let’s chat!
Am I locked into a contract with the Setup, Launch and Support Package?
Absolutely not!
Contracts are the worst! You feel trapped and it’s just not a great situation. With us, there are no long term commitments. We are confident that you’ll be so delighted with the quality and service we are providing, that you’ll stick with us for years to come. However, if you aren’t 100% satisfied or have to cancel for any reason, just give us 30 days notice and you are free to go.

Do you build and support e-commerce websites? If so, how much would that be?
Absolutely yes!
If your business is selling products, then an e-commerce website is a great idea! This allows your customers to browse your products, purchase them and arrange for shipping all on your website. Talk about convenience!
We use the WooCommerce platform on the e-commerce websites we design. WooCommerce is currently the largest e-commerce platform in the world, powering millions of websites and online stores around the globe.
Since there are many variables involved in the design and support of an e-commerce website, it wouldn’t be fair to try and provide a price without understanding your specific needs.

I already have a website and just need it refreshed. How much is that?
Great question!
The amount of time we would put into a website refresh is actually the same (or even sometimes a bit more) than creating a brand-new website. This is because we would need to thoroughly review your website to learn how it was constructed, so that any changes made would be properly integrated without any issues.
So that said, we would charge the same amount as if we were building you a brand-new website.
I already have a website up and running. Can I hire you to support my existing website without changing anything? How much would that cost?
Absolutely yes!
That would be the “support” part of our Setup, Launch and Support Package. The price of this package is the same, even though you might not require everything in the package.
What if I don’t need all of the services provided in the Setup, Launch and Support package?
That’s totally fine!
Not everyone will need everything, but the price includes everything. It’s like paying for an all-you-can-eat buffet. The price is the same no matter what foods you eat or how much or how little you eat.
I'm just starting my business and I don't have a logo. Can you create one for me?
Yes!
A custom logo is included, at no extra charge, when we build your website.
What does it mean when you say you will deliver a “responsive” website?
“Responsive” is just a fancy term that means your website will look great on any device. Your website content will automatically scale to fit and look great whether it’s viewed on a desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.
I already purchased a domain and/or have an existing website already being hosted. Is there a separate fee to transfer it for you to manage?
Excellent Question!
The short answer is no. We won’t charge you a transfer fee.

Will you help me set up my new domain email so I can access it on Gmail, Outlook etc.?
Of course!
That is part of our Setup, Launch and Support Package (amongst many other things). We got your back!
When will I be invoiced and what methods of payment do you accept?
Excellent question!
We ask for a $100 deposit for building your website once you give us the go-ahead. The remainder is due when we are all finished, you’re happy and the website is ready to launch!
For our Setup, Launch and Support Package, payment for the first month is due once you hire us and each month’s payment is due on the 1st of each month. Your initial month’s payment will be prorated based on the start date of the service, calculated on a per-day basis.
We currently accept payments via Interac e-Transfer.
What is the process on how my website will be built?

Sorry in advance for the rather long answer.
We want the process to be as simple and stress-free as possible. It starts with a friendly conversation about what you want. Once we agree that we can make something amazing for you, we send you a standard, easy to understand service agreement. Once we receive the signed agreement, we will send you an invoice for the deposit. Once we receive your deposit, we will send you a receipt and begin to gather all the necessary information from you and get started crafting your new website. Once we get a page or so completed, we will send you a link to a staging website where you can view what we have created so far. We gather your feedback and then get back to work. This process continues until we have a completed website and you are able to give it a full test drive to ensure you are 100% satisfied. At that point, we will send you an invoice for the remaining balance. Once paid, we will do one of two things.
1. If you only wanted a website built and are not taking advantage of our Setup, Launch and Support Package, we will send you a receipt and provide you a link to download your brand-new website in a WordPress .zip file.
2. If you made the “Wise Choice” (get it?) and took advantage of our incredible Setup, Launch and Support Package, we send you an invoice for the first month. Once paid, we will send you a receipt and consult with you on how to purchase your domain and set us up as an authorized user. Then we will continue our work getting your incredible website ready for launch. This includes all the automation and configuration that needs to be done (as outlined in the details of what the package includes). Once finished, we make sure you are ready with everything you need (like your email setup to send and receive using your new custom email address, your Google Business Account is all set up and anything else we can assist with). Once you are all set, we essentially “flip the switch” and make your site live on the internet. Then you can get back to focusing on growing your business and doing what you do best!

How long does it take to build a website?
We love this question!
We hate to say “it depends”, so we won’t. What we will say is that it can vary on a case-by-case basis. 🙂
Seriously though, once we have all the necessary information from you (wish list, content, pictures etc., etc.), it usually takes about a week or so to fully complete a website. This includes extensive review of content, website functionality and responsiveness. If your website is more intricate or has a lot of content or custom functionalities, it may take a bit longer. We also want to engage you as much as you want to be engaged. This includes reviewing the website as it’s being built, providing feedback, additional ideas etc. So that takes time as well.
The bottom line is that it doesn’t take long, but we also don’t want to rush. Your website is important. Taking our time, we can ensure that your new website is crafted with the utmost quality and care so that you are completely satisfied.
Do you only build and manage websites using WordPress?
The short answer is yes. WordPress is the preferred program we use when creating our amazing websites, so we stick with what works.
Fun fact: Did you know WordPress is by far the world’s most used website building program? As of January 2025, there are over 501 million websites built using WordPress and this means that over 68% of all websites in the world are built using WordPress.
Probably too much information, but just wanted to share. 🙂

Will my website be on Google?
Absolutely!
Part of our Setup, Launch and Support Package is Search Engine Optimization (aka SEO). We not only submit your sitemap to Google (and Bing, for you Microsoft lovers), but we optimize your website so that customers will find you when they are on Google, Bing or any search engine.
We will also assist you, if you wish, with creating a Google Business Account and linking that to your new website, social media pages etc..
